Local know-how

TV mounting for every kind of Abbotsford home

Abbotsford is mostly wood-frame family homes, many with a basement suite, plus newer hillside houses on the east side and a growing number of apartments near Mill Lake. Farm properties on the Sumas and Matsqui prairies add older houses to the mix.

Established family homes

Clearbrook, West Abbotsford and the streets around Mill Lake are full of 1970s to 1990s homes with drywall over wood studs. That is a standard install, from $180 for TVs from 32 to 60 inches.

Hillside homes with a fireplace

Newer houses in Auguston, Eagle Mountain and along the Whatcom Road area often have a gas fireplace on the main living wall. Mounting above it adds $20, and we check the clearance before choosing a mount.

Apartments and condos

Low-rise buildings near Seven Oaks and along South Fraser Way are mostly wood frame with drywall. Newer towers near Mill Lake can have concrete (+$50) or metal-stud walls (+$15). Ask your strata about drilling first.

Farmhouses and acreages

Older homes out in Bradner, Matsqui Village and on Sumas Prairie sometimes have plaster walls (+$10) or a stone or brick fireplace (+$50 to $80). We look at the wall first and pick anchors to match.

What TV mounting includes

Every job covers the same essentials: we find the studs or anchor into masonry, level the mount at the height you choose, hang the TV, check that it is secure and clean up. You choose the extras.

Choosing a mount

Fixed, tilting or full-motion?

A fixed mount ($70) keeps the TV flat on the wall at eye level. A tilting mount ($80) angles the screen down, which helps above a fireplace. A full-motion mount ($125) swings and extends for corners and open-concept rooms. You can also use a mount you already have.

Clean look

Hiding the TV wires

We hide TV wires three ways: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Power cords should not run loose inside a wall, so in-wall jobs use rated cables and hardware.

TV mounting in Abbotsford: questions

Labour for mounting a TV in Abbotsford starts at $129.99 for screens up to 31 inches, $178.99 for 32 to 60 inches and $199.99 for 61 to 79 inches, before tax. Our mounts add $70, $80 or $125. A 55-inch TV with a tilting mount and wires inside the wall is about $358.49.

For most TVs over 40 inches, yes. We find the studs or the right anchors for plaster, concrete, brick and stone, level the mount, and can hide the wires, so the TV stays up and looks clean. About half of the people who ask us for a quote already own a mount, and we install it for labour only.

A 65-inch TV falls in the 61 to 79 inch group, so labour is $199.99 with your own mount. With our tilting mount it is $279.99, and with wires hidden inside the wall it is $379.49. Add $20 if it goes above a fireplace.

Store prices and what they include change, so check their current price. Ours is on this page: labour from $130, and the quote form shows your exact price before you book. We mount on plaster, concrete, brick and stone, we can hide the wires, and you pay after the job.

Yes. Lots of newer Auguston and Eagle Mountain homes are built around a fireplace wall, so we do this often. It adds $20. We follow the clearance in your fireplace manual and usually suggest a tilting mount ($80) or a pull-down mantel mount ($70, or $110 motorized) so you are not craning your neck.

Yes. Most low-rise buildings here have drywall over wood or metal studs (+$15 for metal). Concrete walls in newer towers add $50. Many stratas have rules about drilling into shared or concrete walls, so check with your property manager before you book.

Yes. Brick and stone fireplaces are common in Abbotsford homes from the 1970s and 80s and on older farm properties. We drill into solid masonry with the right anchors, not the mortar lines. Stone or tile adds $50 and brick adds $80.

For most living rooms, aim for the middle of the screen to sit near eye level when you are seated, roughly 42 inches off the floor. Above a fireplace it ends up higher, so a tilting mount helps. Our guide on how high to mount a TV lists heights by screen size.

Yes, three ways. Through an existing wall channel for $25, inside a paintable raceway on the wall for $60, or fully inside the wall for $99.50, which includes a fire-resistant HDMI cable.

Most jobs take 45 to 90 minutes. Stone or brick, running the wires inside the wall, or adding a soundbar can stretch that a little. We will give you a rough time when you book.

Yes, 7 days a week in Abbotsford. Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm, and Sunday 9am to 7pm. We offer same-day appointments when we have an opening, so call or text (587) 899-7495 to see what is free.

You pay once the job is done, by credit or debit card, e-transfer or cash. Our technicians are licensed and carry $5 million in general liability insurance. You can also add optional extra coverage on the install for 1, 2 or 3 years.
