Local know-how

TV mounting for every kind of London home

London’s older core has brick houses from the late 1800s and early 1900s, the middle ring is post-war bungalows and 1970s back-splits, and the north and west keep adding new subdivisions. Downtown has a growing number of condo towers.

Old North and Wortley Village

Older brick homes in Old North, Wortley Village and Old East Village often have plaster and lath walls and a brick fireplace. We use plaster anchors (+$10) and masonry anchors for brick (+$80).

Post-war and 1970s suburbs

Oakridge, Westmount and White Oaks have plenty of bungalows and back-splits with drywall over wood studs. It's our standard install, from $120 for TVs from 32 to 60 inches.

North and west new builds

Sunningdale, Hyde Park and Riverbend are full of newer homes with a gas fireplace on the main wall. We check its clearances and plan the mount and wiring together (+$20 above a fireplace).

Downtown towers

Condo towers downtown and near Richmond Row have concrete and metal-stud walls. We bring masonry or metal-stud anchors (+$50 concrete, +$15 metal studs). Ask your building about drilling rules first.

What TV mounting includes

Every job covers the same essentials: we find the studs or anchor into masonry, level the mount at the height you choose, hang the TV, check that it is secure and clean up. You choose the extras.

Choosing a mount

Fixed, tilting or full-motion?

A fixed mount ($70) keeps the TV flat on the wall at eye level. A tilting mount ($80) angles the screen down, which helps above a fireplace. A full-motion mount ($125) swings and extends for corners and open-concept rooms. You can also use a mount you already have.

Clean look

Hiding the TV wires

We hide TV wires three ways: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Power cords should not run loose inside a wall, so in-wall jobs use rated cables and hardware.

TV mounting in London: questions

Labour for mounting a TV in London starts at $89.49 for screens up to 31 inches, $119.49 for 32 to 60 inches and $129.49 for 61 to 79 inches, before tax. Our mounts add $70, $80 or $125. A 55-inch TV with a tilting mount and wires inside the wall is about $298.99.

For most TVs over 40 inches, yes. We find the studs or the right anchors for plaster, concrete, brick and stone, level the mount, and can hide the wires, so the TV stays up and looks clean. About half of the people who ask us for a quote already own a mount, and we install it for labour only.

A 65-inch TV falls in the 61 to 79 inch group, so labour is $129.49 with your own mount. With our tilting mount it is $209.49, and with wires hidden inside the wall it is $308.99. Add $20 if it goes above a fireplace.

Store prices and what they include change, so check their current price. Ours is on this page: labour from $90, and the quote form shows your exact price before you book. We mount on plaster, concrete, brick and stone, we can hide the wires, and you pay after the job.

Yes. Many newer north and west end homes have a gas fireplace on the TV wall, and it adds $20. We check the clearances in the manual and suggest a tilting mount ($80) or a pull-down mantel mount ($70, or $110 motorized). Older brick fireplaces add $80 for masonry anchors.

Yes. Towers downtown and around Richmond Row usually have concrete and metal-stud walls, so we bring masonry anchors (+$50) or metal-stud anchors (+$15). Most buildings have rules about drilling into concrete or shared walls, so check with your property manager first.

Yes. Plaster and lath is common in Old North, Wortley Village and Old East Village. We locate the studs before drilling and use anchors made for plaster so the wall stays intact. Plaster adds $10, and brick adds $80.

Most people are comfortable with the centre of the screen around 42 inches from the floor, close to eye level from the couch. If the TV has to go higher, like over a fireplace, a tilting or pull-down mount saves your neck. We explain it in more detail in our guide on how high to mount a TV.

Yes. We can run them through an existing channel for $25, inside a paintable raceway on the wall for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable included.
