Local know-how

TV mounting for every kind of Calgary home

Calgary has a bit of everything: 100-year-old houses near downtown, 1970s bungalows, brand-new homes built around a gas fireplace, and concrete condo towers. Each one needs different anchors, so we ask about your wall before we come.

Older inner-city homes

Character houses in Mission, Inglewood, Sunnyside or Bridgeland can still have plaster and lath walls. We find the framing before drilling and use anchors made for plaster (+$10).

Established neighbourhoods

Most homes in areas like Lake Bonavista, Varsity or Dalhousie have drywall over wood studs. That is our standard install, from $100 for TVs from 32 to 60 inches.

New homes with a fireplace wall

In Mahogany, Auburn Bay, Cranston or Sage Hill the TV usually goes above a gas fireplace. We check the fireplace clearances and suggest a tilting or pull-down mount (+$20 above a fireplace).

Downtown and Beltline condos

Towers in the Beltline, East Village and downtown have concrete and metal-stud walls. We bring the right anchors (+$50 concrete, +$15 metal studs). Check your building rules before booking.

What TV mounting includes

Every job covers the same essentials: we find the studs or anchor into masonry, level the mount at the height you choose, hang the TV, check that it is secure and clean up. You choose the extras.

Extras you can add

Choosing a mount

Fixed, tilting or full-motion?

A fixed mount ($70) keeps the TV flat on the wall at eye level. A tilting mount ($80) angles the screen down, which helps above a fireplace. A full-motion mount ($125) swings and extends for corners and open-concept rooms. You can also use a mount you already have.

Clean look

Hiding the TV wires

We hide TV wires three ways: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Power cords should not run loose inside a wall, so in-wall jobs use rated cables and hardware.

TV mounting in Calgary: questions

Half of the Calgary quotes we received in the last 90 days came to between $175 and $295, with a median of $220. Labour starts at $80 for screens up to 31 inches and $100 for 32 to 60 inches. Our mounts add $70, $80 or $125, and wires hidden inside the wall are $99.50. Your exact price shows in the quote form.

For most TVs over 40 inches, yes. We find the studs or the right anchors for plaster, concrete, brick and stone, level the mount, and can hide the wires, so the TV stays up and looks clean. About half of the people who ask us for a quote already own a mount, and we install it for labour only.

A 65-inch TV falls in the 61 to 79 inch group, so labour is $109.99 with your own mount. With our tilting mount it is $189.99, and with wires hidden inside the wall it is $289.49. Add $20 if it goes above a fireplace.

Store prices and what they include change, so check their current price. Ours is on this page: labour from $80, and the quote form shows your exact price before you book. We mount on plaster, concrete, brick and stone, we can hide the wires, and you pay after the job.

Yes, and it is one of our most common Calgary jobs because so many newer homes have a fireplace feature wall. It adds $20. We check the clearance your fireplace manual asks for, and a tilting mount ($80) or a pull-down mantel mount ($70, or $110 motorized) keeps the screen at a comfortable angle.

Yes. Condo walls are often concrete or metal studs, so we bring masonry or metal-stud anchors (+$50 for concrete, +$15 for metal studs). Many Calgary buildings have rules about drilling into concrete or shared walls, so check with your property manager before booking.

No. Plaster and lath is common in older homes around Mission, Inglewood and Sunnyside. We locate the framing first and use plaster anchors so the wall does not crack. Plaster walls add $10.

As a rule of thumb, the centre of the screen should be close to eye level when you are seated, which is about 42 inches from the floor in most living rooms. Above a fireplace it sits higher, which is why a tilting or pull-down mount helps. Our guide on how high to mount a TV has a chart by screen size.

Yes. Through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway on the wall for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable included.

Most TV mounts take 45 to 90 minutes. Brick, stone or concrete walls, wires inside the wall and adding a soundbar can take longer.

We work 7 days a week in Calgary, Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm and Sunday 9am to 7pm. Same-day appointments are available when we have an opening, so call or text (587) 899-7495 to check.
