Local know-how

TV mounting for every kind of New Westminster home

New Westminster packs a lot into a small city: early 1900s houses in Queen’s Park and Sapperton, post-war homes in the West End, newer townhouses in Queensborough, and a skyline of concrete towers downtown, at Quayside and Uptown.

Older homes in Queen's Park

Houses in Queen's Park, Sapperton and Brow of the Hill often have original plaster and lath and a brick fireplace. We use plaster anchors (+$10) and masonry anchors for brick (+$80).

West End and Connaught Heights

The West End, Connaught Heights and Massey Victory Heights are mostly mid-century houses with drywall over wood studs. That is a standard install, from $180 for TVs from 32 to 60 inches.

Downtown, Quayside and Uptown towers

Highrises along the river and around Uptown have concrete and metal-stud walls. We bring masonry or metal-stud anchors (+$50 concrete, +$15 metal studs). Check your strata rules before booking.

Queensborough townhomes

Queensborough, on Lulu Island across the North Arm, has many newer townhouses and homes with a gas fireplace on the main wall. Drywall starts at $180 for TVs from 32 to 60 inches, and above the fireplace adds $20.

What TV mounting includes

Every job covers the same essentials: we find the studs or anchor into masonry, level the mount at the height you choose, hang the TV, check that it is secure and clean up. You choose the extras.

Choosing a mount

Fixed, tilting or full-motion?

A fixed mount ($70) keeps the TV flat on the wall at eye level. A tilting mount ($80) angles the screen down, which helps above a fireplace. A full-motion mount ($125) swings and extends for corners and open-concept rooms. You can also use a mount you already have.

Clean look

Hiding the TV wires

We hide TV wires three ways: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Power cords should not run loose inside a wall, so in-wall jobs use rated cables and hardware.

TV mounting in New Westminster: questions

Labour for mounting a TV in New Westminster starts at $129.99 for screens up to 31 inches, $178.99 for 32 to 60 inches and $199.99 for 61 to 79 inches, before tax. Our mounts add $70, $80 or $125. A 55-inch TV with a tilting mount and wires inside the wall is about $358.49.

For most TVs over 40 inches, yes. We find the studs or the right anchors for plaster, concrete, brick and stone, level the mount, and can hide the wires, so the TV stays up and looks clean. About half of the people who ask us for a quote already own a mount, and we install it for labour only.

A 65-inch TV falls in the 61 to 79 inch group, so labour is $199.99 with your own mount. With our tilting mount it is $279.99, and with wires hidden inside the wall it is $379.49. Add $20 if it goes above a fireplace.

Store prices and what they include change, so check their current price. Ours is on this page: labour from $130, and the quote form shows your exact price before you book. We mount on plaster, concrete, brick and stone, we can hide the wires, and you pay after the job.

Yes. Many Queensborough townhomes and condos have a gas or electric fireplace on the TV wall, and older houses often have brick. Above a fireplace adds $20. We check the clearance and usually suggest a tilting mount ($80) or a pull-down mantel mount ($70, or $110 motorized).

Yes, a lot of our New West work is in towers. Walls are usually concrete or metal studs, so we bring the right anchors (+$50 for concrete, +$15 for metal studs). Most stratas have rules about drilling, so check with your property manager first.

No. Plaster and lath is normal in Queen’s Park and Sapperton. We find the framing first, drill slowly so the plaster does not crack, and use anchors made for it. Plaster adds $10, and a brick fireplace adds $80.

A simple rule is to keep the centre of the screen near seated eye level, about 42 inches off the floor. Over a fireplace it ends up higher, so a tilting mount helps. Our guide on how high to mount a TV has a chart by screen size.

Yes. Through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway on the wall for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Concrete walls usually rule out in-wall wiring, so a raceway is the neat option there.

Most installs take 45 to 90 minutes. Concrete, plaster, in-wall wiring or a soundbar can take longer. In towers, booking the elevator or a parking spot ahead of time helps us start on time.

We work 7 days a week in New Westminster, Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm and Sunday 9am to 7pm. Same-day appointments are available when we have an opening, so call or text (587) 899-7495 to check.

You pay once the work is done, by credit or debit card, e-transfer or cash. Our technicians are licensed and covered by $5 million general liability insurance, and optional extra coverage on the install is available for 1, 2 or 3 years.
