Local know-how

TV mounting for every kind of Oshawa home

Oshawa grew up around the car plant, so it has plenty of early 1900s and postwar houses in the south and centre, 1970s and 1980s homes through the middle, and big new subdivisions in the north. Condo towers are rising downtown and near the university.

Older homes near downtown

Houses in O'Neill, McLaughlin and the streets around downtown often date from before 1950 and still have plaster and lath walls. We find the framing first and use plaster anchors so nothing cracks (+$10).

Postwar bungalows

Many 1950s to 1970s homes in Lakeview, Vanier, Donevan and Eastdale have a brick fireplace in the living room. Brick needs masonry anchors (+$80), and mounting above the fireplace adds $20.

North Oshawa new builds

Kedron, Windfields, Taunton and Northglen are newer homes with drywall over wood studs, usually with a gas fireplace wall. That is our standard install, from $120 for TVs from 32 to 60 inches.

Condos and student rentals

Newer towers downtown and near Ontario Tech and Durham College have concrete and metal-stud walls (+$50 concrete, +$15 metal studs). In a student rental, check with your landlord before booking.

What TV mounting includes

Every job covers the same essentials: we find the studs or anchor into masonry, level the mount at the height you choose, hang the TV, check that it is secure and clean up. You choose the extras.

Choosing a mount

Fixed, tilting or full-motion?

A fixed mount ($70) keeps the TV flat on the wall at eye level. A tilting mount ($80) angles the screen down, which helps above a fireplace. A full-motion mount ($125) swings and extends for corners and open-concept rooms. You can also use a mount you already have.

Clean look

Hiding the TV wires

We hide TV wires three ways: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Power cords should not run loose inside a wall, so in-wall jobs use rated cables and hardware.

TV mounting in Oshawa: questions

Labour for mounting a TV in Oshawa starts at $89.49 for screens up to 31 inches, $119.49 for 32 to 60 inches and $129.49 for 61 to 79 inches, before tax. Our mounts add $70, $80 or $125. A 55-inch TV with a tilting mount and wires inside the wall is about $298.99.

For most TVs over 40 inches, yes. We find the studs or the right anchors for plaster, concrete, brick and stone, level the mount, and can hide the wires, so the TV stays up and looks clean. About half of the people who ask us for a quote already own a mount, and we install it for labour only.

A 65-inch TV falls in the 61 to 79 inch group, so labour is $129.49 with your own mount. With our tilting mount it is $209.49, and with wires hidden inside the wall it is $308.99. Add $20 if it goes above a fireplace.

Store prices and what they include change, so check their current price. Ours is on this page: labour from $90, and the quote form shows your exact price before you book. We mount on plaster, concrete, brick and stone, we can hide the wires, and you pay after the job.

Yes, for $20 extra. North Oshawa homes usually have a gas fireplace on drywall, while older bungalows often have brick (+$80). We check the clearance your fireplace needs, and a tilting mount ($80) or a pull-down mantel mount ($70, or $110 motorized) brings the screen down to a comfortable angle.

Yes. Condo walls downtown and near the university are usually concrete or metal studs, so we bring masonry or metal-stud anchors (+$50 for concrete, +$15 for metal studs). Most buildings have rules about drilling, so check with your property manager before booking.

No. Plaster and lath is normal in older homes in O’Neill, McLaughlin and around downtown. We locate the framing first and use plaster anchors so the wall does not crack, which adds $10. If there is a brick fireplace or chimney, brick adds $80.

As a rule of thumb, put the centre of the screen near seated eye level, about 42 inches off the floor. A bedroom or a fireplace wall changes that, and a tilting mount helps when the TV sits higher. Our guide on how high to mount a TV has a chart by screen size.

Yes. There are three options: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway on the wall for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50, which includes a fire-resistant HDMI cable.

Most TV mounts take 45 to 90 minutes. Brick, stone or concrete, wires run inside the wall, or a soundbar added under the TV can take longer, and we tell you before we start.

We work 7 days a week, Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm and Sunday 9am to 7pm. Same-day appointments in Oshawa are possible when we have an opening, so call or text (587) 899-7495 to check.

You pay after the job by credit card, debit, e-transfer or cash. Our technicians are licensed and covered by $5 million general liability insurance. If you want more peace of mind, you can add optional extra coverage on the installation for 1, 2 or 3 years.
