Vancouver is a city of condos and old houses: early 1900s homes in Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant and Grandview, 1960s to 80s Vancouver Specials on the east side, and concrete towers downtown. Many houses also have a basement suite or laneway home.
Older homes in Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant, Grandview-Woodland and Strathcona often have plaster and lath walls and a brick fireplace. We use plaster anchors (+$10) and masonry anchors for brick (+$80).
Vancouver Specials in Renfrew-Collingwood, Killarney and Sunset are drywall over wood studs upstairs, often with a brick fireplace. Drywall is from $180, and brick adds $80.
Towers in Yaletown, Coal Harbour, the West End and Olympic Village have concrete and metal-stud walls. We bring the right anchors (+$50 concrete, +$15 metal studs). Check your strata bylaws first.
New houses, duplexes and laneway homes in Dunbar, Kerrisdale and Killarney often have a modern gas or electric fireplace on the TV wall, sometimes faced with tile. Above it adds $20, tile adds $50.
Every job covers the same essentials: we find the studs or anchor into masonry, level the mount at the height you choose, hang the TV, check that it is secure and clean up. You choose the extras.
Choosing a mount
A fixed mount ($70) keeps the TV flat on the wall at eye level. A tilting mount ($80) angles the screen down, which helps above a fireplace. A full-motion mount ($125) swings and extends for corners and open-concept rooms. You can also use a mount you already have.

Clean look
We hide TV wires three ways: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Power cords should not run loose inside a wall, so in-wall jobs use rated cables and hardware.

Yes. Brick fireplaces are common in older houses and Vancouver Specials, and many condos have a linear gas or electric one. It adds $20. We check the clearance and usually suggest a tilting mount ($80) or a pull-down mantel mount ($70, or $110 motorized).
Yes, condos are a big part of our Vancouver work. Walls are usually concrete or metal studs, so we bring masonry or metal-stud anchors (+$50 for concrete, +$15 for metal studs). Most stratas limit drilling into concrete, so check with your property manager before booking.
Yes. Plaster and lath is normal in Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant and Grandview. We find the framing first, drill carefully so the plaster does not crack, and use anchors made for it. Plaster adds $10, and a brick fireplace adds $80.
For most rooms, the centre of the screen should be near seated eye level, about 42 inches off the floor. Over a fireplace it ends up higher, so tilting helps. Our guide on how high to mount a TV has a chart by screen size.

Most installs take 45 to 90 minutes. Concrete, plaster, brick, in-wall wiring or a soundbar can take longer. In a tower, booking the elevator and visitor parking ahead of time helps us start on time.
