Local know-how

TV mounting for every kind of Niagara Falls home

Away from the tourist strip, Niagara Falls is a city of older homes near downtown, postwar bungalows in Stamford and Chippawa, and newer subdivisions in the north and west ends. Plaster, brick fireplaces and finished basements are all common.

Older homes near downtown

Houses around Queen Street, Victoria Avenue and the older streets of Chippawa often date from before 1950 and have plaster and lath walls. We find the framing first and use plaster anchors so nothing cracks (+$10).

Stamford and Chippawa bungalows

Many 1950s to 1970s bungalows in Stamford and Chippawa have a brick fireplace in the living room. Brick takes masonry anchors (+$80), and mounting above the fireplace adds $20.

Newer subdivisions

Homes in Mount Carmel, Calaguiro Estates and the newer streets off Lundy's Lane are drywall over wood studs, often with a gas fireplace wall. That is our standard install, from $120 for TVs from 32 to 60 inches.

Basements and rental units

Plenty of houses along Drummond Road and Thorold Stone Road have a finished basement or a rental unit downstairs. Drywall walls are regular pricing from $120, and a bare concrete foundation wall adds $50.

What TV mounting includes

Every job covers the same essentials: we find the studs or anchor into masonry, level the mount at the height you choose, hang the TV, check that it is secure and clean up. You choose the extras.

Choosing a mount

Fixed, tilting or full-motion?

A fixed mount ($70) keeps the TV flat on the wall at eye level. A tilting mount ($80) angles the screen down, which helps above a fireplace. A full-motion mount ($125) swings and extends for corners and open-concept rooms. You can also use a mount you already have.

Hiding the TV wires

We hide TV wires three ways: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50 with a fire-resistant HDMI cable. Power cords should not run loose inside a wall, so in-wall jobs use rated cables and hardware.

TV mounting in Niagara Falls: questions

Labour for mounting a TV in Niagara Falls starts at $89.49 for screens up to 31 inches, $119.49 for 32 to 60 inches and $129.49 for 61 to 79 inches, before tax. Our mounts add $70, $80 or $125. A 55-inch TV with a tilting mount and wires inside the wall is about $298.99.

For most TVs over 40 inches, yes. We find the studs or the right anchors for plaster, concrete, brick and stone, level the mount, and can hide the wires, so the TV stays up and looks clean. About half of the people who ask us for a quote already own a mount, and we install it for labour only.

A 65-inch TV falls in the 61 to 79 inch group, so labour is $129.49 with your own mount. With our tilting mount it is $209.49, and with wires hidden inside the wall it is $308.99. Add $20 if it goes above a fireplace.

Store prices and what they include change, so check their current price. Ours is on this page: labour from $90, and the quote form shows your exact price before you book. We mount on plaster, concrete, brick and stone, we can hide the wires, and you pay after the job.

Yes, it adds $20. Older Stamford and Chippawa homes usually have a brick fireplace (+$80 for brick), while newer houses in Mount Carmel tend to have a gas fireplace on drywall. We check the clearance it needs, and a tilting mount ($80) or a pull-down mantel mount ($70, or $110 motorized) keeps the screen at a comfortable angle.

Yes. A finished basement with drywall is our standard price from $120, and bare concrete adds $50 for masonry anchors. If you rent, get your landlord’s okay before booking, since a mount leaves a few screw holes when it comes down.

Yes. Plaster and lath is common in the older homes around Queen Street, Victoria Avenue and old Chippawa. We find the framing behind it and use anchors made for plaster so the wall does not crack. Plaster adds $10, and interior brick adds $80.

In most living rooms, the middle of the screen should sit close to seated eye level, roughly 42 inches from the floor. Above a fireplace it ends up higher, so a tilting or pull-down mount helps. Our guide on how high to mount a TV has a chart by screen size.

Yes. There are three options: through an existing channel for $25, in a paintable raceway on the wall for $60, or inside the wall for $99.50, which includes a fire-resistant HDMI cable.

Most TV mounts take 45 to 90 minutes. Brick, stone or concrete, wires run inside the wall, or a soundbar added under the TV can take longer, and we tell you before we start.

We work 7 days a week, Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm and Sunday 9am to 7pm. Same-day appointments in Niagara Falls are available when we have an opening, so call or text (587) 899-7495 to check.

You pay after the job by credit card, debit, e-transfer or cash. Our technicians are licensed and covered by $5 million general liability insurance. If you want more peace of mind, you can add optional extra coverage on the installation for 1, 2 or 3 years.
