Washer and Dryer Installation Cost in Canada (2026)
By the Pixl Canada install team

Quick answer
With Pixl Canada, installing a side-by-side washer and dryer costs $110 and a stacked pair costs $150, before tax. New hot and cold washer hoses are $30 and a new dryer duct is $20. So a side-by-side install with new hoses and a new metal duct comes to $160, and a stacked install with both comes to $200. The machines are not included, and a gas dryer needs a licensed gas fitter for the gas connection.

What changes the cost
- Side by side or stacked. A stack takes more work because the dryer must be lifted and fixed on top of the washer. Only front-load pairs made to stack can be stacked, and you need the kit that matches your model.
- New washer hoses. Old rubber hoses age and can burst. New hoses are a small cost next to water damage.
- The dryer vent. A dryer must vent outside through a metal duct. The City of Toronto’s clothes dryer fire safety page advises rigid or flexible metal duct and warns that plastic or foil duct is more prone to kinking, sagging and crushing, which builds up lint.
- Gas or electric. An electric dryer needs the right outlet. A gas dryer needs a gas connection, which belongs to a licensed gas fitter. Technical Safety BC’s gas dryer venting bulletin explains that a blocked vent can overheat the dryer and, on gas models, leak exhaust that may contain carbon monoxide.
- Hookups that are missing. If there is no water valve, drain, outlet or vent, adding them is plumbing or electrical work for the right trade.
- Access. Narrow stairs, tight closets and long duct runs add time. Check your dryer’s manual for its venting limit. See dryer vent length and duct rules.

Where to get a washer and dryer installed
| Option | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| The store that sold them | Delivery and install in one booking | Home Depot Canada says it installs only appliances purchased there, and haul-away of the old unit is extra |
| An appliance installer | Connecting machines you already own or bought elsewhere | Confirm what hoses and duct are included |
| A licensed gas fitter | The gas connection for a gas dryer | Mention it when you book any other installer |
| DIY | A like-for-like swap of electric machines | Heavy lifting, and easy to miss a slow leak or a crushed duct |
A checklist before installation day
- Measure the space, the doorways and any stairs the machines must pass through.
- Confirm you have hot and cold shut-off valves, a drain, the right outlet and an outside vent.
- Decide whether to replace the washer hoses and the dryer duct.
- Check whether the dryer is gas or electric.
- Clear the area and tell the installer about any stairs or tight corners.
- Run a short wash and dry cycle after installation to check filling, draining, spinning, heating and airflow.
Health Canada’s guide to moisture and mould says to check that your dryer vents outside, seal duct joints with foil tape and keep the outside vent clear.
