Commercial CCTV Installation for Canadian Businesses

Pixl designs, installs and sets up commercial CCTV and video surveillance systems for shops, restaurants, warehouses and offices. A technician walks your site first, you get a written quote, and you pay after the job. Wired PoE cameras record to an NVR on site, and you watch live on your phone.

CCTV

Wired PoE, WiFi or analog: which commercial CCTV system fits?

Most businesses are best served by wired PoE (CCTV) IP cameras that record to an NVR, because one network cable carries power and video and the system does not depend on WiFi. WiFi cameras fit a small shop or a short-term space. Analog cameras with a DVR can make sense when a building already has coax cable. A walkthrough tells us which fits your site, and a single PoE cable run is limited to about 100 metres (328 feet), so larger sites need a switch near the far cameras.

Wired CCTV (DVR/NVR)

More stable, and ideal for long-term use or larger properties.

WiFi cameras

Easier to install, and good for smaller spaces or rentals.

Security camera installation cost

How much does commercial CCTV installation cost?

Every commercial CCTV system is quoted after a walkthrough, because the price depends on the number of cameras, the cable routes, the recorder and storage, and how the building is built. We do not publish a package price: a 4-camera shop and a 16-camera warehouse are different jobs (see how camera installation is priced in Canada). The quote is free and in writing, and you pay after the job. For one or two WiFi cameras in a small space, installation starts at $200 before tax.

WiFi camera installation

From $200 for 1 or 2 cameras, before tax. A good fit for condos, rentals and smaller homes.

Wired CCTV system (NVR/DVR)

Free custom quote. We price it for your property once we know the layout, the cable routes and the walls.

What changes the price of a business camera system:

  • How many cameras you need, and what each one must capture (faces at the door, plates at the gate, an overview of the floor)
  • The cable route: ceilings, conduit, exposed runs, and any lift or ladder access for high mounting
  • Recorder and storage: how many days of video you need to keep, and at what resolution
  • Network and power: PoE switch ports, power budget and backup power if you need it
  • Accounts and access: who can view, export and manage the system after handover
  • Whether we supply the cameras and recorder, or install equipment you already own

Storage example. Four cameras recording continuously at 4 Mbps produce about 172.8 GB per day, or roughly 2.42 TB over 14 days (4 cameras × 4 megabits per second × 86,400 seconds ÷ 8 bits per byte). It is an illustration, not a recommended retention period: resolution, frame rate and motion recording change the figure. Before you compare bids, use our Business security camera quote checklist.

What a commercial CCTV install includes

A Pixl commercial install covers the full system: a site walkthrough, a written camera plan, mounting each camera, running and hiding the cable, powering the cameras through PoE, setting up the recorder and storage, and connecting remote viewing on your phone. We can supply the equipment or install cameras you already own.

Before we leave, we test live view and playback with you and show your team how to review and export footage. We work with brands like Hikvision, Reolink, Dahua, Lorex and TP-Link Tapo, and suggest what fits the site and the budget.

Commercial CCTV for every kind of business

A shop, a restaurant, a warehouse and an office need different camera views, different lighting and different privacy care. These are the business types we install for most often, each with its own page.

Retail stores

Front door, till, sales floor, stockroom and loading door. Placement that protects cash and stock without filming where people expect privacy.

Restaurants and cafés

Entrances, till, back door and delivery area, with cameras that cope with heat, grease and bright kitchens.

Warehouses and industrial units

Loading docks, yards, aisles and perimeters, with longer cable runs, high mounting and night coverage.

Offices and clinics

Reception, entrances, parking and the server or records room, with careful limits on who can view the footage.

Several locations

Tell us the addresses and what each site needs. We quote each site after its own walkthrough, and our quote checklist helps you compare bids.

Where should business security cameras go?

Start with where losses and disputes happen, not with how many cameras fit the budget. Keep cameras out of washrooms, change rooms and similar areas, post a clear sign and tell staff in writing. Our guides on camera placement and employee privacy explain the rules.

Entrances and exits

Capture each person’s face as they enter. Mount at about face height and avoid backlight from glass doors.

Cash desk or reception

Frame the counter and the transaction area, not the whole staff room.

Stock rooms and loading doors

Inventory shelves and the door, with good lighting. Tell staff and limit who can view the footage.

Parking lot and storefront

Vehicle access and break-ins on the street side. Keep the view on your own property.

Back office or server room

Where cash, records and equipment are kept. Limit access to the footage from this room.

How a business camera install works

A commercial install takes three steps: a walkthrough of your site, a written quote, and an install with a handover. You pay only after the system works.

1

Book a walkthrough

Call, text or use the quote form. We walk the site, mark every camera view and note cable routes, power and access.

2

Get a written quote

The quote lists cameras, recorder, storage assumptions, cable work and tax, so you can compare it with other bids. It is free, with no commitment.

3

We install and hand over

We mount, wire and test the system, then show you live view and playback. You pay after it works.

Commercial CCTV installation: questions

It depends on the number of cameras, the cable routes, the recorder and storage, and how the building is built, so every business system is quoted after a walkthrough. The quote is free and in writing, and you pay after the job. One or two WiFi cameras in a small space start at $200, before tax.

There is no single best camera. The right choice depends on what each view must show. Wired PoE IP cameras recording to an NVR suit most businesses. Dome cameras work well inside, bullet cameras suit doors and lots, and a wide-angle camera needs a second camera where you must read faces or plates. We choose the model for each position.

In general, cameras should be visible, used for a real business purpose such as theft, safety or protecting cash, and not aimed at places where people expect privacy, such as washrooms or change rooms. Tell staff, post a sign, restrict who can view footage and keep recordings only as long as you need them. This is general information, not legal advice. See our guides on employee privacy and on security camera laws in Canada.

Keep recordings only as long as you need them and write the period down. The longer the retention, the more storage you need: four cameras recording continuously at 4 Mbps use about 2.42 TB over 14 days. We size the recorder to your retention target and test that it records as planned.

It depends on the number of cameras, the cable routes and the building. Larger and commercial systems take longer than a home install, and your written quote includes a time estimate after the walkthrough.
