Security Camera Installation for Restaurants and Cafés

Pixl installs security cameras and CCTV systems for restaurants, cafés, bars and takeouts. We plan the views around the entrances, the till, the back door and the delivery area, choose cameras that cope with heat and grease, send a written quote after a walkthrough, and you pay after the job.

Which camera system suits a restaurant?

Most restaurants use wired PoE (CCTV) IP cameras that record to an NVR in the office, because one network cable carries power and video and the footage does not depend on WiFi in a busy, metal-heavy building. Dome cameras with sealed housings suit dining rooms and kitchens, where steam and grease can damage an open camera, and bullet cameras suit the back door and the lot. We keep lenses away from direct steam and the hood line.

Wired CCTV (DVR/NVR)

More stable, and ideal for long-term use or larger properties.

WiFi cameras

Easier to install, and good for smaller spaces or rentals.

Security camera installation cost

How much does restaurant security camera installation cost?

A restaurant camera system is quoted after a walkthrough, because the price depends on the number of positions, the cable routes through the kitchen and ceiling, and the recorder. A small café and a multi-room restaurant with a patio are different jobs, so we do not publish a package price. The quote is free and in writing, and you pay after the job. One or two WiFi cameras in a small space start at $200 before tax.

WiFi camera installation

From $200 for 1 or 2 cameras, before tax. A good fit for condos, rentals and smaller homes.

Wired CCTV system (NVR/DVR)

Free custom quote. We price it for your property once we know the layout, the cable routes and the walls.

What changes the price of a business camera system:

  • Number of positions: entrance, till or bar, kitchen pass, back door, dining room and patio
  • Cable route through ceilings and walls, and how cable is kept away from heat and moisture
  • Camera housings that suit steam, grease and cleaning in the kitchen
  • Recorder and storage for the number of days you want to keep
  • Lighting at the back door and delivery area, which can decide the camera model

What a restaurant camera install includes

We mount each camera, run and hide the cable, power the cameras through PoE, set up the recorder in the office or a locked cabinet, and connect remote viewing so the owner can check the restaurant from a phone. We can supply the equipment or install cameras you already own.

Before we leave, we check each view at service time and after closing, when lighting changes, and walk you through playback and export. We work with Hikvision, Reolink, Dahua, Lorex and TP-Link Tapo.

Restaurant camera layouts by type

The positions are similar, but the priorities change with how you serve. These are the layouts we plan most often.

Cafés and bakeries

Entrance, till and the back door. Cash and deliveries come first, with a view of the counter.

Full-service restaurants

Entrances, till or bar, kitchen pass, back door, dining room overview and the office.

Bars and pubs

Entrance, bar, till and the back door, with extra care to light the entrance for face detail.

Takeout and fast food

Counter, till, drive-through window or pickup shelf, and the back door.

Patios and shared units

Check the landlord’s rules before mounting outside your unit, and keep views on your own space.

Where each restaurant camera goes

Walk the restaurant from the front door to the back door and mark each point on a floor plan. Start with where losses and disputes happen, not with how many cameras fit the budget. Keep cameras out of washrooms, change rooms and similar areas, post a clear sign and tell staff in writing.

Front entrance

See each guest and staff member arriving.

Till or bar

Cash handling and the payment terminal.

Kitchen pass

Orders leaving the kitchen, with a sealed camera.

Back door and delivery area

Deliveries, garbage runs and after-hours entry.

Dining room and patio

A wide overview, with the view kept on your own space.

How a business camera install works

A restaurant install takes three steps: a walkthrough, a written quote, and an install with a handover. You pay only after the system works.

1

Book a walkthrough

Call, text or use the form. We walk the restaurant from the front door to the back door and mark each camera view.

2

Get a written quote

You get a written quote listing cameras, recorder, storage, cable work and tax, free and with no commitment.

3

We install and hand over

We install, test every view at service time and after closing, and show you playback. You pay after it works.

Restaurant security camera installation: questions

It depends on the number of cameras, the cable routes, the recorder and storage, and how the building is built, so every business system is quoted after a walkthrough. The quote is free and in writing, and you pay after the job. One or two WiFi cameras in a small space start at $200, before tax.

Yes, for a real business purpose such as safety, theft or protecting cash, if you tell staff in writing and keep cameras out of washrooms and change areas. We use sealed dome cameras away from direct steam and the hood line.

The entrance, the till or bar, the kitchen pass, the back door and delivery area, the dining room overview and the office. We mark each position on a floor plan during the walkthrough.

Choose housings that suit the environment. Sealed domes keep steam and grease out of the lens, and we position them away from fryers and the hood line so cleaning is easy.

Posting a clear sign at each entrance is good practice for cameras in a public-facing business. See our guide on whether you need a camera sign in Canada.

Yes. We set up remote viewing on your phone, tablet or computer, test live view and playback with you, and show you how to review footage before we leave.

You pay after the job is done, by card, e-transfer or cash. The written quote comes first, so there are no surprises.
